The William "Eddie" Laxton Case, occurring on the afternoon of March 23, 1966, remains one of the most detailed and compelling UFO encounters of the era. At approximately 5:30 PM, 56-year-old Eddie Laxton, an electronics engineer and instructor at Sheppard Air Force Base near Wichita Falls, Texas, was driving alone along a remote stretch of Highway 70, near the Oklahoma-Texas border, when he encountered a massive, 75-foot-long and 8-foot-high, fish-shaped object blocking the road at a 45-degree angle.

Laxton stopped his car about 50 yards from the object and observed several striking details. The craft had four intensely bright lights, powerful enough to illuminate a newspaper from a mile away, and a plastic-like bubble in the front, about three feet in diameter, through which light could be seen. Its exterior featured recognizable black alphanumeric markings, reading either "TL4768" or "TL4168," and it was equipped with a single porthole, a small open doorway emitting white light, and a metal tail with stabilizers.

A human-like occupant was visible near the craft, standing about 5'9" tall, weighing approximately 180 pounds, with a light complexion and stooped shoulders. The figure wore what resembled green fatigues or a mechanic's outfit, complete with a cap and insignia resembling military stripes. The entity appeared to be inspecting the underside of the craft with a flashlight-like tool but retreated into the ship via a metal ladder upon noticing Laxton. Laxton described the sound of the door closing as akin to a car door snapping shut.

The craft then emitted a high-pitched noise resembling a drill and lifted approximately 50 feet into the air before departing toward the Red River. Within five seconds, it was a mile away, moving with astonishing speed.

The encounter was investigated by Hayden C. Hewes, founder of the International UFO Bureau, who conducted an on-site interview with Laxton. Hewes' documentation and Laxton's detailed recollection of the craft's structure, its terrestrial-like markings, and the human-like figure add credibility to this unique sighting,
